Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections, also known as Botox, are a popular way to reduce wrinkles by relaxing certain muscles in the face. They work by blocking nerve signals that tell muscles to contract. The effect is temporary and the injections are incredibly safe. Some clients experience a little discomfort, especially if nervous about needles, but the treatment is quick and largely pain-free.

Botox is the best-known brand of botulinum toxin but other well-established brands are Xeomin, Bocouture, Letybo and Azzalure. Anti-wrinkle injections are very popular cosmetic treatments for reducing fine lines and wrinkles but they can also be used to lift areas such as the eyebrows or corners of the mouth. They have been safely used for decades and can be applied with great accuracy to the face to treat frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead lines and smokers’ lines. They are not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women and are not appropriate for those with certain muscle or nerve conditions such as dystonia, peripheral motor neuropathy (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) or Lambert-Eaton syndrome.

Forehead lines

The vertical line between your eyebrows, known as the glabella lines, are caused by years of frowning or squinting. By relaxing this area,Botox Clapham can soften the appearance of this wrinkle and create a relaxed and happy expression.

Masseter muscles

The muscular contractions that cause the jaw to clench or grind can lead to the development of a chin crease and the formation of a double chin. By relaxing the muscles that cause these contractions, Botox can help to soften the chin and prevent the development of a double chin.

Bunny lines

The tiny lines around the nose that form when you scrunch up your face can be treated with a low dose of Botox. This can make you look much more relaxed and is particularly useful before a holiday when you might be squinting in the sun, which makes the lines more visible.

It is best to start Botox at an early age, when the first signs of wrinkles appear, so they don’t become more pronounced. Treatment is typically given every three months until the muscles are ‘re-educated’ and then less frequently, such as yearly.
